A Wargamer's Armorial

Home page

'A Wargamer's Armorial' will be a series of booklets of Heraldry.

Each booklet will cover the heraldry of a country or region and each of them is crammed with full colour illustrations of arms. They are designed specifically with the needs of wargamers in mind.

Publications

These are not books about Heraldry but books OF Heraldry and lots of it too. They are designed primarily as a painting reference but all have some historical commentary and information.

Volume 1 covers the Heraldry of England and is mostly derived from rolls of arms between 1250 & 1350 but many of the arms illustrated are suitable for the period about 1200 - 1450.

This 35 page booklet contains over 800 different named arms on 27 full colour plates. There are also some short historical notes on aspects of Heraldry and its use in Medieval England.

Volumes 2 (Scotland) and 3 (France & Burgundy) are in preparation.

Development of Volume 2 has been delayed by my having to deal with a heavy load of painting commissions and no publication date is yet available.

Future plans include a volume on the Empire/Germany and possibly one on the Crusades.
